Lewi, you pretty much have two choices. I advise you to turn on the feature that makes new accounts go by you before they can post. Then they need your email confirmation to bother us at all, which you won't give them.
Alternately, there are all sorts of anti-spambot add-ons to phpbb, which I've seen in action. They pretty much don't let anything get by them, but they're kind of a pain to find and install.
