There are prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Prokaryotes are the simpler and earlier forms of cells, containing no nucleus, and few organelles.
Eukaryotes, on the other hand, are similar to our cells, as they contain many organelles, some surrounded by one membrane, others surrounded by a double-membrane (envelope), such as the nucleus. All human and plant cells are classified as eukaryotes.
