Request new forums

I think we might need a new forum for everything related to the Website and our IRC Chatroom. The website is almost done with the exception of the member's profiles and the IRC chatroom is cleaned and running again. In my point of view it might be better to make a new forum next to the onces we already have (Private Area, Tremulous, Offtopic) and name it "Tech Support & Announcements" in which you can place Server, Website, IRC Chatroom, Support etc. If this proves to be too much work I'll happily do it myself. Got enough spare time a.t.m. Currently we don't have any place for these topics.

why don't you rename Server section for that? I mean you already do the tech support stuff there to begin with. You can call it Archy's lab if you want.

Because you don't have it very organized that way. Everything related to server, website, irc, support etc will all be dumped in one place instead of a corresponding forum for each. And I think that those subjects aren't that related to each other to just dump it in 1 forum. For example humor and art each have their own forum to keep it organized. It would be kind of hard to make it so that you could find everything easily when everything is just stuffed together. Also I don't do the other tech stuff there. Everything that is in the Server forum is related only to the server. Everything related to the website is now dumped into General which completely doesn't fit in there.

Server now has 16 topics. News, which has his own forum, only has 2. Files, which is has double forums (1 in tremulous and 1 in private), hardly has 4 topics. Contest Zone has 7. If we dump all those things in 1 forum we still have less topics then the server forum has at.m. Now you suggests to not only use that forum for servers but also add IRC, Website, Announcements, Support etc. in that same forum. My guess is it will be a complete mess. Also if we do as you suggests and add all those topics into 1 sticky then you have a thread with over 50 pages. I think it's a lot more organized when you have a topic about our blacklist, a topic about our progress, a topic about questions, a topic about disapproval with our admin levels then just dump everything in 1 sticky.

Are you intensionally misunderstanding?

The stiggys for general image about current sitsuation. new topic for random issue (was it request, suggession or bug report etc.). Announcement when there is large problem (server downtime or other major issue)

It's not like we are going to be flooded in problems and have to deal with every damn thing at same time.

I would honestly be thankful if I could finish my duties just by reading through one section. when I see that every damn section has new post I go like "**** this" and go play trem.

That's the same as we have it now in server forum. Two main sections for server and admin and the rest for random stuff. I just don't encourage having around 10 stickies and more then 50 topics about servers, IRC, websites, support etc. stuffed in 1 forum. Especially not when I look at other forums and see how less crowded those are (Like said in the last post).

I just look at how large our server forum is now and wonder if it would be wise to add website and IRC stuff to it. My opinion is that it would be better to have a different forum for Server, Website, IRC Chatrooms and Support then make 1 forum with all those subjects in one. Those could be organized under a new name like we have with tremulous and offtopic. Your opinion is that it is better to just make one forum and post all those stuff in there and use stickies to keep for example Admin discussion, Website discussion, IRC discussion, Server discussion etc. high up between all the topics.

We need moar opinions D=

Very. For example my intentions are to post tutorials, bot lists, channel guide, adminlist, announcement etc. for IRC. Currently White has two nice bots and maybe with a bit of luck I can host those on my server which results in having them online constantly. Only problem is that those are mIRC bots and mIRC doesn't run well in Linux (under wine). I suggest dropping by our IRC channel Romeo =)
