Hi... I am back.
I found my self actually having fun... Um yesterday? (00:20 AM)

So I started thinking that we need website... I am willing to buy one from webhotel service wich has proven quite good but I need to consult with the clan before I do anything.
Currently the one I am looking is:
44€/year
1 Gb space
15 Gb monthly transfare
30 E-mail addresses with 20mb each.
Support for PHP, Perl, CGI-technigues and SSI.
SSH/SCP readyness, Crontab user rights.
Also visitor counter.

If you know any better service please tell. If you want to support the idea with money (no, no need for that if you don't want to, I won't blame you) do tell.
the I am willing to give 50€ for this per year for now.

If you are good at web design (surely looking for php talented) do inform. All help is needed.

If you don't like the idea then say so ^^.

EDIT:
Also site with easy address like www.cebt.com would sertainly attract more recruits. And more cooler looking websites would not as much repulse them.

Currently the sites give "what ****ing green goblin c**p is this?"
Same goes for forums... would it not be cooler to have www.cebt.com/forums
also having your own domain for the forums means custom smileys! Very Happy

EDIT2:
This is the domain I alone will offer to buy for the clan (under 50€/year)
And this is the type I would be interested in but needs financial support. If found similar with smaller yearly fee then link please.

Well I only recently returned here and I thought of exactly the same thing when I saw this newer site. O.o Also, the main website was somehow blocked by the college surf control for adult content and education.

I think that we could do with a new site but would we really need to make such a large attempt to attract people? I don't think hose who are deterred with typing .freevar aren't really the type we're looking for.

I don't think freevar thing is practical and I don't think anything smaller than that is worth buying. And 44€ every year is small money.

Also the thing is that I do intend to give those members who have need to access the website full access (mainly anyone who is working on the web design and the staff). And there is e-mail spots for all members who want one. (although 20 mb is not much.)

Bigest issue right now is that if there is any better offer on other host.
Such things like MySQL database might help greatly.
Also who will be working on the website... I barely know any php. Other than that I quite skilled at html and the grafical design for web. Although PHP and MySQL are things I need to learn soon.

The same service offers another deal that would be lot better (such features as: MySQL 100mb, 3Gb space, 40Gb band/month, 50 Emails with 20Mb and spam filtering) but I would need some financial help for that (well for now atleast).

Whoa... I don't know what was going through my head when i read that was per week...
The emails do give members a sense of belonging and I wouldn't think the 20mb is an issue if you keep your box tidy like me. (only 2 emails in there to be used for reference Razz)

Updated the second post... (was editing while you posted)
Also note that the E-mails on first one have no spam filtering so thats quite pain.

Any better deals are always welcome...

This is the site I was looking the deals... My father bought the small business one and so far he has been quite happy with it.

I can help you a bit with the site White. Also I have a couple of friends who did other projects (like www.ahemlocktile.com) who might be interested in helping out also.

But I have another idea that might work out better and is completely free. The idea is basicly like www.aeth.darkbb.com. You'll have a forum with a front page. You don't have to pay for anything and it looks rather neat. We can set it up easily and without any hassle. And it's also a lot easier to do then making a whole website Wink

But I kinda want to make proper website. ^^
Also most of those website packets like phpNuke are too generic for my taste.

Ofcourse but I don't know if we have the experience to make such a website. HTML is easy enough but we don't have people who are experienced with PHP. And if it doesn't work out well, because of the lack of people or the lack of skills for making a nice website, you pretty much lost quite a bit of money. Don't want Whitey to lose 50 bucks Wink

EDIT: Disregard that. We are so going to try it Cool

I think it's a brilliant idea.
The freevar thing is indeed completely outdated and abandoned (probably my own fault there) and the real deal does indeed both make us a much more official clan, bring more ties into the clan thus binding us together more real-ish-ly, and it would simply look and work a helluvva lot better.

Also I refuse to let bear pay for this all by himself. I'd be more than happy to give at least $15 towards it at the minimum. This is like €1 a month out of my pocketmoneys, so no problems there. I'd even happily double it. Twice, if neccesary, but that may be going overboard a little.

By the end of this year I'll probably be able to paypal. Not yet though. Not 18 till december.

P.S, The actual websitemaking shouldn't be much of a problem. Anyone who'd put a little effort into it could mightily easily make a brilliant webby.
And if code-only scares you, you could always turn to the old GoLive or the new Dreamweaver to make a site via the artistic way around.

I guess if no one ends up wanting to help, I could go and learn some PHP from a good friend.

Also, LOL at the hemlocktile thing. Unison smells funny Razz Are we gonna go with something simplistic or make the site funky? I noticed that the 2nd link arch gave looked like it was designed with templates.
At any rate, I know it'll be better than Zimbabwe's official site. ( gta.gov.zw/ )

ps. Arch, that second link made my ears bleed with Seikan Hikou that was in Macross Frontier so i will blame you. It also followed up with an old Slayers opening theme so I will now have to look through my archives and rewatch everything XD

The second link is the idea I had for the forums. I've talked with Whitebear about it and we are most likely going for a very simple, proffesional look for the website. Bright colours like white and light blue or so. We will implent lots of neat features like an IRC Client, logon system, Member's pages and so on. The ideas are on the table, now we only have to bring them to life Very Happy

Sounds pretty epic. =O I'm afeared of paypal, but I'd like to help in any other way that I can?

(Every time I've offered my skills until now, they haven't been used, but I'll just throw out there that I'm reasonably good with MySQL, though I know no PHP.)

I Am skilled with html (that is actualy part of my school). So I pretty much am sopoused to have all requirements to be professional web designer at the end of it.

I need to learn PHP sooner or later so why not sooner. ^^

I suggest I put the order from this web hotel next monday (unless anyone has nay say or better service looked up by then) and put what ever small donation link to the bottom of the page for paypal.
If we are active enough and still interested in this next time pay time comes up (year from now) we see if we get better service with the donations collected. If we are dead I see to it that all donations are refunded to their former owners. (although I think that is quite unlikely)

I Don't use pay pall my self that much so there won't be any mix of money and if I do use it, the prices are most likely in $ and that just adds to the Cow funds (I think thats the currecy difference is about 1.2).
