@alex: mIRC does not cost money if you just ignore the message and press ok button when it appears.

I use mIRC quite often but mostly just to leech anime and manga (+ manwha) ^^

mIRC's cons are just that informing about new messages is poorly made.
Messenger on the other hand pinches us when new message arrives.
